New Traditions, Extending a Legacy

Building on the vision and values of Dr. F. Mary Williams
April 21, 2016 – 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

In November 2015, the women in science and engineering community of Newfoundland and Labrador lost one of its finest role models – F. Mary Williams.

F. Mary Williams

Mary contributed to the advancement of women in science, engineering and technology, not only through leadership in her profession, but especially through her work as the Inaugural NSERC/Petro-Canada Research Chair for Women in Science and Engineering (Atlantic) 1997-2002 and through her volunteer efforts with WISE NL over 20 years.

This gathering, hosted by WISE NL, brings together Mary’s women in science and engineering community to acknowledge her contributions. Importantly, we also gather to share how we reflect upon her vision and values, and to describe our individual and collective actions to advance her legacy.

We encourage you to share how Mary’s work has influenced your thoughts and actions. We are also interested in sharing your vision of how her influence might positively affect how we work together to improve the future for women in science and engineering.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP and provide your name and email address.
If you would like to share your reflections, even if you are unable to attend,
