WISE NL Speaker Series is pleased to present a panel featuring three women working in science and engineering positions at Nalcor, which will be moderated by the Chair of the Nalcor Energy Women’s Leadership Network.  It will include an overview of Nalcor’s commitment to Diversity and Inclusion (D&I), and some of the specific D&I strategies and initiatives that they are implementing. The panelists will highlight their personal backgrounds and experiences in working in science and engineering at Nalcor, and the impact that their work has on the province and communities in which Nalcor operates.

About panelists

Erin Gillis, Team Lead, Lead and Prospect Team, Oil & Gas, Nalcor Energy

Erin Gillis is the Team Lead – Leads and Prospects Team within the Nalcor Energy Oil & Gas Exploration Group. The Leads and Prospects team are responsible for the detailed mapping and evaluation of the resource potential offshore Newfoundland and Labrador.

Before joining Nalcor, Erin worked as a Geologist on the Thermal Team for Canadian Natural Resources Limited in Calgary, Alberta. Erin attended Memorial University of Newfoundland where she attained a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science (Geology). She is also the proud mother of three.

 



Renee Hodder, Generation Planning Engineer, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro

Renee Hodder is a Generation Planning Engineer with Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro’s System Planning department. In 2012, Renee became the youngest winner of the Nalcor Energy President’s Award in the People category.

Renee holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical from Memorial University of Newfoundland and an MBA from Dalhousie University. Renee was recognized nationally in 2014, receiving the Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year Futures Fund award for exemplary leadership in academic and extra-curricular initiatives.


 

Jill Henderson, Mechanical Design Engineer, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro

Jill Henderson is a Mechanical Engineer with the Engineering Services department at Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro. Her main responsibilities include the design and construction execution of mechanical equipment at hydro generating facilities.

Jill holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
